Killer Soccer Coaching Tips

Youth Soccer Coaching Tips

If you are keen on improving the performance of your players, try these soccer coaching tips. The fact that the players are not taking their sessions keenly or your designs and procedures are failing is driving you crazy.

Now you know that there are ideas that can actually do wonders for your team.

1. Make Elaborate Preparations: It is only half battle won but is crucial to the achievement of your goals. Make your kids aware of your plans for the team, take what they have to offer in terms of advice and move on from there. Getting everyone involved is a good thing. Timing of results is a crucial factor and if your plan does not talk of achievement of goals within a specific time-frame, it is sure to have a negative impact overall. Rigid planning can only make matters worse and therefore leave room for changes, if required. Sometimes things turn up in the most unexpected ways and you will succeed only if your procedures are smart enough to deal with them.

2. Ensure that the players have great workouts: When the drills are the same day after day, the kids are bound to shy away from practice and you cannot blame them. Use different forms to introduce the element of fun and excitement. You can take them out for a movie, picnic, or anything that refreshes their mind. Remember that the minds of the kids are the easiest to divert and engage.

3. Discipline and Freedom go hand-in-hand: It cannot be emphasized enough that as a coach, maintaining discipline should be your top priority. These soccer coaching tips can do wonders to your team.
Allow them time in-between drills to do their own stuff, simply relax, or share things among themselves. Encourage them to organize outings.

4. Be there for your kids: It is essential that the players try out new strategies to succeed and it is imperative that when they do so, there will be failures. Ensure that you are available to motivate them to try again or try something new in such situations. Being harsh towards mistakes can prevent a kid from trying new things. This is not at all desirable and therefore you must find a way out to correct the issues without reprimanding the players. If you are a true motivator who does not resort to punishable ways, your players will exceed expectations and perform to the best of their abilities.

5. Maintain Harmony and good judgment: A soccer field is where you will appreciate true skills of the players. A general composition of any team is always a mix of good, average, and bad players. As a coach, it is your duty to use your best players to motivate and inspire the others. Buddy the best players with the weak ones so that they stay together and share ideas even after soccer drills, ensure that there are no comparisons drawn out amongst players, and motivate in a way that builds self-esteem.

Youth soccer coaching is a dynamic and difficult job. After all, it is not easy to motivate people to deliver under extreme pressure. Make use of these soccer coaching tips to ensure that your players not only become great players but great sportsmen. Make optimum use of these tips to further your coaching career. Your kids will appreciate it, benefit from it, and become a team to reckon with. For more such tips, knowledge, and experiences, subscribe to our community of soccer professionals.

Youth Soccer Drills – 4 Secrets You Must Know

Youth Soccer Coaching Tips

While coaching youth soccer drills the right way go a long way in making a good coach, critical factors exist that youth soccer coaches must be aware of.Your responsibilities as a youth soccer coach are very important, even if you are teaching it just in part-time. Let’s take a look at some important aspects that every youth soccer coach must consider:

1. Always, always be prepared. The best coaches in the world always have a game plan, even if it’s just for an ordinary drill session. Being prepared is important, and there’s a lot more to consider than just checking a few things.

Make a detailed list, including how long the drills should take and what you should keep an eye on. If there are some particular players that need to be watched, make a note of that as well. Keep a set of penalty warm ups in case you have to hand them out.

All these things will help avoid freezing in front of your players and parents without knowing what to do next. Not only will the team lose respect for the coach, they will take advantage of the situation as well.

2. Preparation doesn’t just mean game plans- try to always keep all the training equipment and materials ready before all the action begins. When coaching youth soccer drills, a number of coaches use precious practice time making players lug cones and balls back and forth- this can build up a sense of resentment among the players.

After all, they have come to learn soccer, not lug equipment around. Put your feet on the field before the coaching session starts and check everything to ensure all is ok. Check the ground for items like broken glass and make sure things like the goal posts are securely in place. When teaching soccer drills to the kids this is important.

3. Your learning curve is in constant evolution, so try to keep yourself up-to-date all the time. If you are going to incorporate them in your training schedule, make notes on how the drill goes. If you feel that it isn’t working, then scrap it and try something else. This should apply to any drill that you feel isn’t getting you the right results.

4. Keep a supply of water and a first aid kit ready at all times.

Can your players have fun and be competitive at the same time?

While teaching soccer, fun is a big part of why they are attracted to soccer in the first place. If you just watch kids playing together in the park, chances are that they will organize themselves into an informal soccer match pretty quick. You’ll notice that there are people that are enjoying and appeciating what you’re doing and they’ll probably join the party. Why Some People Like Extreme Sports

Ocean Gusts Keep a Paraglider Aloft Above Cerro Dragon, a Desert Dune

For many people, at some point in their lives, they have an overwhelming desire to fly high in the sky just like the birds do. For centuries, human beings have struggled with the idea of flying breathlessly into the open skies. To quench this thirst, hang gliders, para-sails, parachutes, airplanes and helicopters were invented. With advancements in the fields of science and sports, it was only inevitable that powered parachutes would be invented.

A motorized parachute is thought by many to be safer when compared to a normal, fixed-wing aircraft because of its stability, limited response to control inputs and resistance to stalling. The power-off glide ratio ranges anywhere from three to one, to six to one. Glide ratios vary depending on the parachute shape and size and the weight that the parachute is carrying. Although it is possible, it is very difficult to cause a powered parachute to get to a dangerous altitude, stall or have the chute collapse by means of pilot control error. Many pilots consider a chute collapse to be virtually impossibility with square wings, such as ones that powered parachutes have.

A hydro-copter is an amphibious aircraft-propelled catamaran and is considered to be a type of powered parachute equipment. The vehicle has hull similar to a boat, with small wheels and pontoon skids. An aircraft engine with a propeller and rudder pushes the hydro-copter across ice, water, snow and land, where other vehicles or aircraft simply cannot travel in such conditions.

The first patent for a powered parachute prototype was applied for on October 1, 1964, by a man named Jalbert. He described his new vehicle as a multi-cell wing and called it a parafoil. A parafoil is a non-rigid airfoil with an aerodynamic cell structure that is actually inflated by the wind. Air inflation forces the parafoil into a classic wing cross-section, which was a new parachute design. His ideas were finally registered as U.S. patent 3,285,546 in November of 1966. But, a motorized version similar to this design had already flown in 1964. In March of 1981, Steve Snyder, Adrian Vandenberg and Daniel Thompson created the P-1 powered parachute. Their first flight only lasted around twenty five to thirty seconds, mainly because the paraglider they used suffered from torque problems. It took two more years to fix the problems, and in 1983, the first commercial paragliders were produced.

Powered parachutes are capable of flying low and slow, which makes it an excellent platform for photography and sightseeing. They are sometimes used in agriculture and occasionally by law enforcement agencies. In the U.S., an ultra-light motorized parachute is not permitted to fly at night. Four Skydivers in Mid-Air

For the first time skydiver, tandem skydiving is a fun way to get started. It requires very little classroom training, as you are strapped to an instructor during the entire process. All you need to do is enjoy the beautiful vistas before you. Most major cities and many smaller towns have extreme sports centers that can give you a beautiful and memorable experience. If you are looking for a sport that gives an adrenaline rush while letting you soak in the glorious sights around you, then give skydiving a try.

It seems these days that you see skydiving in just about every major branch of human activity; from action movies to soft drink commercials to reality television to army parachute maneuvers. What draws many to skydiving is the extreme nature of the sport. Jumping out of a plane and free-falling through air at terminal velocity is definitely an adrenaline pumping good time.

For the beginner, the most popular method to learn tandem skydiving is with an instructor. This maneuver requires the student to jump from a plane while strapped to the instructor, and fall until the instructor pulls the parachute cord.

Skydiving tandem jumps average around two hundred dollars, but keep a look out for discounts during special seasons, such as early fall sales event. Typically, a twenty five percent deposit is required in advance. Advanced free-fall programs (AFF) start at one hundred dollars for ground school and charge two hundred and fifty dollars per level, for advanced programs. After you have completed the classroom and parachute jump training and are ready to jump solo, you can continue doing so at any skydiving school around the country. Most rent equipment and offer coaching classes so that you can continue to refine your skydiving techniques.

After you and your instructor jump out of the airplane, you will free-fall for around a minute. Tandem skydiving is great because just knowing that your instructor is right behind you all the time is comforting. When the parachute opens, you will then float effortlessly in the air for four or five minutes before landing. You may even get the chance to steer the parachute. As you are floating down, you have a great opportunity to appreciate the beautiful views and sights around you.

To Skydive Or To Parachute?

5 Way Skydiving

If you have ever witnessed skydivers doing their thing, either on television or in real life, then you may have gotten the bug to try it yourself. Go check out your local skydiving center. The instructors must be completely trained and will be there to ensure that the skydiving experience meets and exceeds expectations. Jumping from a plane from thousands of feet above land is not as safe a sport as say basketball. Skydiving provides a different kind of adrenaline rush than basketball, and of course, the risks are different too. That being said, skydiving safety has gotten better and better over the years.

After all of the signing-up paperwork is out of the way, an intensive parachute training session will need to be undertaken to make sure that a person knows exactly what to do. Listening to the instructor and paying attention to every detail is important. Tests will be administered to make sure that the information is being heard and absorbed. Because skydiving is extremely dangerous, preparation beforehand is absolutely essential to ensure that it is a safe and fun experience.

Is it worth it to take on the risks of skydiving? If you feel daring and want to try a parachute jump for the first time or are already a fan, any number of parachute training schools are ready and willing to help you begin. Find a great skydiving school that offers many levels of training so that you can go out and enjoy the experience of a lifetime. A good school will make sure that your experience is as safe as possible and they will also make sure that you are trained well before jumping out of a plane.

A skydiving equipment check will be done before the jump. Because parachutes are not always one hundred percent reliable, jumpers have a reserve parachute that is completely independent form the main chute. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires that reserve parachutes be inspected and repacked on a schedule of every one hundred and twenty days, whether it is used or not, by a certified FAA parachute rigger.

Skydivers can also bring along other safety items, such as audible and visual altimeters. Sometimes it can be difficult to know how close to the ground you are when skydiving. Because opening a parachute requires you to be at a specific altitude, altimeters can provide the altitude reading and even activate an alarm when the height for releasing the parachute has been reached.

Many parachuting skydiving incidents and fatalities are not the fault of flawed equipment but rather a failure to obey and take necessary precautions before jumping. Situations like wrongly timing the deployment of the parachute, folding the parachute incorrectly and experimenting with or performing maneuvers that are extremely difficult and dangerous are the main causes of injuries and death during a jump.

Enquire about skydiving at your nearest skydiving school or center if you have ever considered starting the sport. Other skydivers and instructors will be able to answer your questions with ease. When signing up to begin skydiving, always practice honesty. Inform your instructors of any medical conditions you have. Letting them know you have a medical condition will not automatically stop you from skydiving, but getting a doctor’s clearance will no doubt be needed.

Which You Prefer: Skydiving or Parachuting?

People who have never tried skydiving may believe a lot of misconceptions or myths about it. It is sad to say that a lot of people who believe those myths and are misled into getting the wrong impression about the sport and will never consider learning because of these mistaken beliefs. Here are a few of the most common fallacies surrounding skydiving parachuting that circulate and the some explanations for them.

There are a few myths that float around involving the safety of parachute jumping. One involves your friends and some sort of secret signals used during jumps. Most people believe that if you are skydiving with your friends, that you will have a secret signal between you and your buddies that alerts them if your parachute cord fails to open your chute. You would make your way towards them and wrap your arms around them or hook yourself to their parachute pack if this were the case. Afterwards, the parachute would inflate just in time to save both of you.

Both of you would have broken arms by the end of the dive, if this myth were true, although you would think broken arms would be a much better alternative than hitting the ground at terminal velocity. There is no known hand signal if your parachute fails and you are looking for a friend to save you. If you were to skydive in a group, it is imperative that before anyone pulls their parachute, you and they should be one hundred percent sure that the air space above is clear. This is to ensure that you won’t get tangled with any of group members when all of you pull your parachute cords. Collision is a serious issue to consider and avoid.

If you want to skydive, then the best place to start is at a local skydiving school. There, you will most likely begin with a tandem skydive and then proceed in whatever direction you feel most comfortable. You do need to consider how much time and money you want to invest, as skydiving can be time consuming and expensive!

For many people the idea of jumping out of an airplane or off a building is sheer lunacy. They do not crave the excitement and the adrenaline rush. For others, though, it provides them with an extreme high and makes them appreciate life more. Still others do it each and every day for their job. Parachuting from a great height takes a lot of courage and a bit of luck. Each time you parachute you have to wonder in some part of your mind whether or not the parachute is going to open. But nevertheless it has become one of the most extreme sports the average person can participate in. It does require some training and practice but it can be rewarding. The problem is that most people who are afraid to parachute are not that familiar with the sport. In this article we will cover some of the basics. Who knows? By the time it is all said and done, you might find yourself with that itch to feel the wind rushing past and the ground miles beneath you as you parachute from a plane.

What is the history of parachuting?

This is a tricky question to answer. Technically the modern parachute was first designed and implemented by Louis-Sebastien Lenormand of France in the late 18th century. But the first initial designs of parachutes date back to the Renaissance period. The images designed were found on a manuscript dating to the 1470’s but the design was much different than what you would find today. Leonardo da Vinci designed a parachute that was more in scale with the jumper in his Codex Atlanticus which dates back to 1485. Years later there was an inventor by the name of Fausto Veranzio who looked at da Vinci’s drawings and decided to design the parachute differently. He substituted a bulging piece of cloth in 1595. He even tested it twenty years later by jumping from the tower in Venice in 1617. Lenormand looked at the material and design that his predecessors had used. He decided that by using silk, a person would fall safely to the ground because of the strength and versatility of the fabric. He also removed the wooden frame that previous designs had included. His theory and design was tested in 1797 by Andre’ Garnerin. Garnerine later improved upon the design even further by venting the parachute. The first parachute jump out of a plane was not until 1911 when Grant Morton jumped from a Wright Model B at Venice Beach, California. Since that time the parachute and parachuting, in general, have changed as technology has changed.

Is there a way to learn parachuting if I have never done so before?

If you have never gone parachuting then you have to have instruction. Usually the instruction begins on the ground. The instructor will go over all of the equipment and make sure that you know what each piece of equipment does. He or she will then go over the correct altitude at which you will deploy your parachute. The next step is usually instructing you on how to land correctly so that you do not get tangled in your parachute or break a bone when you make impact. It is very common for your first few jumps to be made in tandem with an instructor or a more advanced student. This way you get the feel for the jump without having to worry about knowing when exactly to deploy your parachute.

What is tandem parachuting?

In tandem parachuting, or skydiving, you are connected to a tandem instructor. The instructor is strapped to your back with a much larger parachute. This type of skydiving is very good for beginners because it lets them experience freefall but without having to know all of the details about when to deploy your parachute. With tandem skydiving the instructor uses a drogue parachute. As soon as both of you are free of the plane, he or she will deploy this parachute much quicker than you would a typical parachute. The reason is to slow the rate of descent down to that of a single skydiver. You will be in the air longer and get to experience the feel of freefall more than if you were just skydiving alone. But you should know that tandem skydiving does cost more because there is more equipment involved. For some this is not an issue because they like the comfort of knowing an experienced instructor is there with them at all times.

How fast do you go when parachuting?

In the standard freefall position the skydiver is plummeting at a rate of 120 miles per hour. But there are other positions and types of skydiving that can put you upwards of 310 miles per hour. If you are parachuting with your head pointed downwards you can expect to reach greater speeds. But you have to be careful about what position you are in when you release your parachute. The parachute will open and you will immediately feel like someone is jerking you upwards. Some people experience up to 3G’s of deceleration depending on the type of skydiving they are doing.

Getting The Right Skydiving Equipment

You will want to look into your own comfort while sky diving, but also, the essential is the safety equipment used. The right skydiving gear will turn the trip into an exhilarating experience that you will never forget.

Sky Divers Doing a Maneuver in the Air

In order to go sky diving in style, you will need everything from a suit to boots and head gear.  Skydiving is an activity that often times warrants renting equipment instead of purchasing it because of the sheer cost of buying everything that is needed for an activity that you’re going to do only a couple times a year.

In fact, most companies that offer their services for taking people up into the sky and advising them on the moment to drop include the price of equipment rental in their fee. It is only logical that sky diving gear should be provided by the company who is taking you sky diving.

On the other hand, some people are die-hard fans, and if you are a serious sky diver and really want to do more and more of it, purchasing the necessary skydiving gear is not out of the question. In fact, it could make the skydiving adventure that much more enjoyable for you. For the basic skydiving gear, you will want to focus on comfort. You don’t want to have boots or clothing that will hinder your movement in any way.

Always make lots of movements when trying on new gear. Just because it fits you when you are standing up straight this does not mean that it will feel good when you crouch down, for example, just like you will do before you make your jump. When buying gear, look for materials that are resistant and durable, but make sure that the fibers that will be in contact with your body are going to be fibers that feel nice on your skin. Any sort of wool blend is usually not a good idea.

Check and double check the company’s history with concern to their planes and everything inside them as well as the jumper’s equipment from parachute to head gear. Though ultimately, this is the company’s responsibility, every jumper should take the importance of safety and proper skydiving gear into their own hands. When in doubt, seek a second opinion, and always get more recommendations for a sky diving company than you would for a hairdresser.

Soccer action photo using telephoto lens

Telephoto lenses prove invaluable when you can’t get near enough to the subject you’re photographing, as in most sports, where you have to shoot from the grandstand or sidelines.

It’s useful to think of telephoto lenses as telescopes for your digital SLR camera. Like a telescope, a telephoto lens enlarges your subject, bringing it closer and making it appear larger in your viewfinder and on your camera’s digital sensor.

The longer the focal length of a lens, the greater its magnification. Thus a 100mm telephoto lens gives twice the magnification of a 50mm standard lens, while a 400mm lens gives eight times (x8) the magnification of a standard lens.

Prime v Zoom Telephoto Lenses

Telephoto lenses fall into two main categories:

  1. Fixed focal length, or prime, telephotos
  2. Zoom telephotos, offering variable focal length

1. Prime telephotos offer optimum image quality because they have fewer lens elements, so fewer compromises have to be made. Their main disadvantage is the fixed focal length, limiting your options when composing the shot.

When photographing fast moving subjects, as in a football or soccer match, you can find the subject suddenly looming too large in the viewfinder. Fixed focal length telephotos can also be large, heavy, and expensive.

They are nevertheless the first choice for professional sports photographers because the image quality can’t be beaten and they offer wider maximum apertures than zoom lenses of equivalent focal length.

This allows for shooting in low light conditions, which is often a necessity for professional photographers when shooting sports under artificial lighting at night, or at indoor arenas;

2. Zoom telephotos are hugely popular because of their versatility and often affordable price tag. Lens technology has improved dramatically in recent years and today’s top-of-the-range zoom lenses compare favorably with prime lenses when it comes to image quality.

For all-round usefulness, combined with affordability and very acceptable image quality, telephoto zoom lenses make an excellent choice for sports photography as it costs a lot less buying one zoom lens rather than two (or three) prime lenses to cover the same range of focal lengths.

Popular zoom telephoto lenses include:
* Professional quality 70-200mm f/2.8 telephoto zooms
* 80-400 or 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 telephoto zooms
* More affordable 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 telephoto zooms

Whether you opt for a more expensive prime telephoto lens or the versatility and affordability of a zoom telephoto, some form of tele lens is essential to capture those special sporting moments.

See these outstanding Sports Posters and Prints for examples of sports photographs using a variety of lenses, including telephoto lenses.
